With the upcoming podcast series, From the Wings, which launches on all major podcasting platforms, listeners will be able to experience some of Adelaide Festival Centre’s most memorable events.
The Adelaide Festival Centre’s From the Wings presents talks and interviews about everything from politics to food to the family.
Hosts include Celia Coulthard, Creative Producer of OUR WORDS, and Annette Shun Wah, Artistic Director of Oz Asia Festival; episode one examines topics of identity and representation as discussed by poets Dominic Guerrera and Kaurna, Natalie Harkin, activist-poet from Narungga, and Ali Cobby Eckermann, Yankunytjatjara / Kokatha. The recording was taken from OUR WORDS in 2021, exploring First Nations voices on page, stage, and screen as part of Adelaide Festival Centre’s annual OUR MOB exhibition.
Additionally, episodes two and three of OUR WORDS featured Martu author Karen Wyld and Yankunytjatjara woman and Australian music industry creative Deb Edwards discussing Wyld’s 2021 multi-generational novel, Where the Fruit Falls. Elaine Crombie, Pitjantjatjara, and Warrigmal South Sea actress and writer collaborate with Birri Gubba, Wakka Wakka, and Kanak writer, film and theatre director Alexis West, and Nara Wilson of SA Film Corporation to talk about First Nations representation in movies and television.
As part of the 2021 OzAsia Festival’s, In Other Words, a creative writing and ideas program at Adelaide Festival Centre, episodes four to six were selected. Three sessions will explore contemporary issues from the perspective of prominent Asian-Australians.
